English Language project
Some pupils in Primary 6 have been working on an English Language project which has involved links with other schools in East Dunbartonshire.
The children started by posting aspects of their written work online in a blog, and peer assessing each other's work by leaving comments for their classmates. They used a format known as 2 stars and a wish which meant leaving 2 positive statements (stars) about the piece of writing and a suggestion for improvement (wish).
They then went on to look at work of pupils in other schools in the authority and again used the 2 stars and a wish format to provide feedback for those children. Our pupils also received comments from the other schools and used these to edit and improve their own work.
We have been delighted that some parents and other schools in Scotland have also read the work of our pupils online and have given them feedback. This has been a great source of encouragement and motivation for our children.
3 of the pupils spoke to educationalists from all over Scotland at a seminar at the Scottish Learning Festival in the SECC. The people who were at the seminar thought their work was fantastic and some of them hope to set up similar projects in their own schools.
If you would like to read the children's work and listen to their poems please go to http://www.woodhillprimaryschoolenglish.blogspot.com/ and if you wish, click the comments link to leave feedback for the pupils.
